Review - recenzja- crime and punishment

The book which made an indelible impression on me was  the novel Crime and Punishment by Feodor Dostoevsky,. It depicted the life and suffering of a man who torn by diversity of his character, frustartion and pesronal anguish  turns to crime.

The main character of the novel is a poor former student Raskolnikov.  He  displays  two entirely  contradicting personalities. After coming to .......................(nazwa maista),  hoping to achieve something in his life, all he encounters is poverty, constant shortage of money and utter disappointment. He falls in love with a girl, who out of sheer poverty becomes a prostitute. Yet, she is very compassionate and caring by her nature. She has , in general, good influence on Raskolnikov. Desperate and fed up with being broke all the time he commits a murder . He kills  Alona Iwanowna because she was rich. Accidently,  he also kills an innocent girl,  who to her bad luck ,  is a witness of the crime. He does not manage to live with what he has done . It is too hard for him to bear it. He cannot endure the pain and suffering with everyday remorses. Pungs of guilts , he has to face , become unbearable and he confessess his guilt. Finally, he is sent to Syberia.

He loses, in a way, yet he is victorious as his good side wins the battle with the evil. He decides to become a better man, he paid his atonement , he suffered greatly and understood his wrongdoing. Thanks to him,  his girlfriend quits being a prostitue .

I would like to recommend the book as I am of the opinion that it is a very illuminating book. It shows that there is no crime without punishment. Moreover,  it shows that  good always prevails over evil. Besides , the book is a real page turner . The reader is eager to find out what the next chapter is going to reveal. The story of a young man full of hopes and ambitions , who due to the twist of fate does not fulfill his urges is moving and really captivating. You willl not regret  reading it and you will surely indulge in this unforgettable book .
